So I have been completely missing in action the last few months, it has been a hectic time and I've made some changes.  

First and foremost, I quit my it-pay-the-bills job in order to focus on finding the events role I've been dreaming of for the last 2 years.  Weee!  It's a huge risk, considering I now have no secure income, but I'm a firm believer of the need to take risks in order to make your dreams come true.  So here I am!  Unemployed and looking for work :)

I guess that leaves me more time to make this blog a bigger part of my life, so will endeavor to post more often with gorgeous things that will help make your events breathtaking.

Christmas Inspiration

My visual thought process for the Chriastmas table this year.  Am leaning towards a read, white and blue colour scheme and can't wait to start buying supplies and getting crafty.

Oh and PS, I realise there is a rabbit in the images, but replace that with a reindeer and voila!  Christmas :)

Caulfield Cup Delights

It was the wettest Caulfield Cup in history, but rain and freezing temperatures aside, it was a fantastic day.  I spent a fair amount of time working on decorations and experimenting with materials but was thrilled with the result - I think it was pretty good for a first effort!  Next project will be the Christmas table, watch this space.

Caulfield Cup Inspirations

It's that joyous time of year when the sun shines a little warmer, the days are a bit longer, the trees are green again and the events scene hots up. The most exciting thing on my calendar at the moment is the Spring Racing Carnival, and with my apartment located minutes from the Caulfield Racecourse, it would seem a crime not to attend the Caulfield Cup.

I'll be having a pre-race event for my friends, just a small group who I will hopefully delight with breakfast goodies whilst there is last minute hair styling and lipstick application.

The colours of the Caulfield Cup logo are purple and gold so I will use these (as well of horse racing of course!) as my theme.

I'm thinking vases of lavender and hydrangeas finished with gold ribbon bows, paper lanterns, exquisite papers, white linen cloths, artificial turf, little horse accessories and a few more details that will make this small and low key event a little bit special.

On the menu we will have banana and choc chip muffins, mini vegetarian quiches, mini bacon and eggs pies, "horse poo" chocolate mud cupcakes, a fresh fruit platter and of course, champagne cocktails.

I will report back after the 16 October to show you how my ideas came to fruition!

Candy, sweet candy!

Brace yourselves. How would you feel if I told you that you could get this, right here in Melbourne?

The Candy Buffet is a Melbourne based event catering company with a twist.  They provide a delicious selection of candy treats to compliment your wedding, birthday, corporate event, anywhere you want sweet tasty goodies!  

I recently saw their work at the Cancer Fighting Foundation's Red Ball where they set up an incredible spread of crimson coloured lollies (see picture above). The smell in the room was amazing, I can't even begin to describe the delicious aroma that filled the (extremely large) foyer. 

I can't take my eyes away from how beautiful the design of each buffet is.  The colours, lollies selected  and theme are all specific to your event, making it personalised and unique.  The best thing is every buffet is supplied with take home bags, so guests can not only enjoy the lollies during the event, but will be able to take some home as a reminder of a fantastic event.

Girls Night In

The other week I saw an ad on television for the Cancer Council's Daffodil Day that really moved me. The message was that 1 in 2 Australians will be diagnosed with cancer. This statistic is frightening and so I jumped on the Cancer Councils website to see how/what/when/if I could become involved.

Welcome the Girls Night In! Every October the Cancer Council asks women around Australia to host an event, invite their girlfriends, and raise funds for the fight against women's cancers. I've registered to host an event that I'm really enjoying putting together and can't wait to get into the nitty gritty as the date approaches. Here is a breakdown of my thought process to land the perfect idea for my Girls Night In:

Idea 1
Invite girlfriends over for a catchup, some Nintendo Wii and a glass of wine.  Girlfriends donate what they would have spent on a typical night out on the town.
Potential to be raised = $250

This is good, but I can aim higher.

Idea 2
Invite girlfriends, friends of friends and Mums over for some food and drinks.
Potential to be raised = $400

More people means more funds raised, but how am I going to fit all those people into my apartment, and how would I entertain them without spending too much of my own money?

And so Idea 3 was born
Let's not have a girls night in, but a girls night out!

Girlfriends, friends of friends, Mums, Aunties, colleagues and even our male partners in crime (only allowed to attend if they wear pink mind you) will be invited to a night at the movies, drinking wine, eating popcorn and delighting in an entertaining flick.

If it all works out as planned I can raise a total of $1,000 for the Cancer Council.  Yippee!

Let the event planning begin!

I received a pamphlet in the mail the other day, and while I usually pay no attention to advertising material, this one caught my eye.

The Wigs Cellar provide a unique service where they deliver alcoholic beverages cold, to your door.  This would be a great help if you are putting party, dinner, or special event together and don't have the time, energy, or muscles required to cart around cartons of beer or cases of wine.  They also provide ice, glasses, ice tubs and nibbles.  Their prices are fair and not much more than what you would find in the local bottle shop.

So next time you don't have time to stock up before your event, head to the website and check out their selection.  Free delivery in the Melbourne CBD too which makes it a great idea for work events!!

Success! An online portfolio

After lots of procrastination and some denial, I have finally managed to create an online portfolio displaying images of all of my events to date. It was an incredibly rewarding thing to do, and I am extremely proud of what I have managed to create.  It was also quite a memorable experience, looking over photos of events gone by and remembering all of the hard work I have put in, and the fantastic shows I put on!  And yes, I am tooting my own horn, but sometimes I think it's necessary :)
